IMPORTANT Roland IC chip upgrade details

We have been informed by Roland that from January 2017, all new Roland ink stock has been manufactured with an upgraded ink cartridge chip. This requires the latest firmware to be installed on your printer to ensure that you have no interruption to your printing schedule.

Inks that are being affected by this change are: ECO-SOL MAX, ECO-SOL MAX 2, EUV, and EUV3. If you have one of the below printers running these ink types, you must upgrade your firmware in order to use any new ink supplied by Roland from January 2017 onwards. Once you have upgraded your firmware, all cartridges, old and new, will continue to function as normal.

If you have one of the below machines and running the affected ink you will require the upgrade;

  • Versa UV LEF series (12, 12i, 20)
  • Versa UV LEJ 640
  • VersaUV LEC Series
  • SOLJET PRO 4 XF-640
  • SOLJET PRO 4 XR-640
  • VersaEXPRESS RF-640
  • VersaCAMM VSi & VS Series
  • VersaSTUDIO BN-20
  • SOLJET PRO 3 XC-540 / XJ-640
  • VersaArt RE-640
  • VersaCAMM VPi & VP Series
  • VersaCAMM SP Series (540V, SP-300V/300) & SPi Series

It is really simple and easy to upgrade your firmware. Please follow the link below to Roland’s IC chip upgrade page which includes links to all required firmware upgrades and user manual for extra information.
